Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the TV Video Call app (Android phone and Android TV, package
dev.pabloslab.tvvideocall) collects, why, and who can see it. TV Video Call is
a one-to-one video calling app for a household's own screens: you call from a phone or tablet, and the TVs
at home answer. It's built for family video calls on the big screen — simple enough for the whole
household to use. We are a small team; we do not sell, rent, or share your
personal data with anyone for advertising.
1. What we collect
- Account. The email address and password you use to sign in, stored and verified by our identity provider, Firebase (Google). Your phone's Firebase user ID links your account to your household.
- Devices. When you register or pair a device, we store a device identifier generated by the app, the name and room you give it (e.g. "Living Room TV"), the device type (phone or TV), and a push-notification token from Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) so we can wake the screen when a call arrives.
- Pairing codes. Pairing is done by scanning a QR code. Each code is valid for one hour and is deleted after it is used or expires. When a TV is paired, it receives a one-time sign-in token and never holds your password.
- Calls and usage. For each call we record when it started and ended, which devices were in it, and the connection minutes used. A connection minute is one device in a call for one minute. This is the meter shown in the app and the basis for your plan's monthly allowance.
- Billing. If you subscribe, we store your plan, subscription status, and renewal state. Your card or payment details are handled entirely by our payment provider, Stripe — they never reach our servers.
- Diagnostics. The TV reports a small amount of information about incoming-call handling (whether it could start the call, whether it had network access) so we can diagnose a TV that stops answering. We review these when you report a problem.
2. What we do not collect
- Your calls are not recorded. Audio and video travel live between your paired devices over Twilio's video network. We do not record, store, or listen to call content, and we do not have a way to retrieve it after a call ends.
- No advertising or analytics. The app contains no ads and no third-party analytics SDKs.
- No contacts or location. The app does not read your contacts and does not use location services.
3. How we use your data
Only to operate the service: sign you in, route calls to your paired screens, meter connection-minute usage against your plan, bill your subscription, and fix problems when a screen stops answering. We do not use your data for anything else.
4. Who else can see it
Your data is processed by the providers the service runs on, each bound by a commercial agreement with us and used only for the function described here:
- Google (Firebase) — sign-in and push notifications.
- Twilio — real-time audio/video transport between your devices.
- Stripe — subscription payments and your billing account.
- Railway — hosts our backend servers and database.
Your paired devices can of course see each other's call content during a live call — that is the point of the app. No other people or companies can see it.
5. How long we keep it
Account, device, usage, and billing records are kept for as long as your account exists, so your device list and plan history work. When you delete your account (see below) we delete or anonymize your personal data; records we must retain for legal or tax purposes (e.g. billing history) are kept only as long as required.
6. Your choices
- Access. The app shows your account email, devices, plan, and usage meter directly.
- Deletion. Email [email protected] from your account email and ask to delete your account. We delete your account, devices, pairing data, and usage history; we keep only minimal billing records where the law requires.
- Push notifications. You can deny the FCM permission at any time; the app will not be able to receive calls on that device, but nothing else changes.
7. Children
The app is intended for use by people 13 and older (16 in some regions). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will update the "last updated" date above and make the change visible in the app before it takes effect. Continued use after the change means you accept the new policy.
9. Contact
Questions, access requests, or deletion requests: [email protected]. We aim to respond within a few days.
